Cha-am > Hua Hin, Thailand Day 48

My first hangover for the trip and if I have my way the last! Its just not good when you feel like this in this heat and you have to pack and move to your next location!!! Luckily Hua Hin was only 30kms down the road. Once again we had not organised anything so we asked our taxi truck to drop us at the beach. He dropped us outside the Sofitel and the beach was nowhere to be seen, we later found out we had to walk down the road a bit further through a head of street stalls and down a path to get to it.

Well what a difference to Cha-am, Hua Hin is full of European tourists and has all the big Resorts – Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Sofitel etc. so a bit more upmarket. First port of call McD’s for some hangover food and internet. We found a couple of places to check out, first one K Place. A bit more expensive than what we have been paying but when you are nursing a hangover and you have 20 odd kilo’s on your back it doesn’t make you want to shop around (very bad).

Well guess how we spent our afternoon…….sleeping!! We have aircon and nice crisp white sheets and a huge bed so it was very nice to snuggle down and snooze. When we finally woke we went for a walk to check out the beach. It wasn’t much, most of the beach near us was taken up by the Hotels so public bathing was restricted to certain areas. We picked one of the seafood restaurants for dinner most of them hang out over the water, they look as though they have each been built on big long piers. WHAT A MEAL!! We ordered a whole steamed fish in lime & garlic – it came out on its own little steam boat, prawns in a red curry soufflé – came out in a coconut shell and some Morning Glory (a Thai green vegetable it looks similar to baby bok choy). The fish was amazing it was actually covered in roughly chopped garlic, Lee and I looked at each other and said ‘we are going to stink tomorrow’ but surprisingly it was not that strong.
