Cha-am, Thailand Day 47
Had and interesting breakfast, Lee asked for 2 bottles of water and we received 2 bottles of coke, great kick start for the morning. After brekkie we settled into our position for the day. We had 2 deckchairs and about 6 umbrellas to ourselves. We read, swam, ate and drank till late in the arvo. We became a bit of hit when we went for a swim, we had this group of Thai kids wanting to play. They are really shy when it comes to speaking English so what usually happens is they will smile at you and then when you have gone past them they will turn away from you and say Hello. So Lee and I would turn back around and start asking them what their name was etc. they would giggle and think it was so much fun.
After a shower we headed out to find somewhere to have dinner. After walking from one end of the strip to the other we settled on a bar/restaurant that had a live band, they were pretty good for a Thai band. We sat next to a table with 2 Thai police (we think they were cops they had official uniforms on) they were drinking Pipers 100 sets. A set is a bottle of alcohol, cokes and sodas this is a regular scene at any restaurant/eatery, the Thais seem to love them. They ended up getting friendly with the Johnny Walker promo girl so she sat with them playing drinking games. Every now and then the younger of the 2 guys would get a bad roll of the dice so one of the waitresses would take his scull for him (they were not doing shots wither they would scull a whole glass as punishment).
We ended up drinking 2 x small Sang Som sets and found our trip home took a little longer than it should have. We did stop for Pancakes, a version of Indian Roti with Banana, choc sauce & condensed milk – rather yummy!!
