Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Day 20

First place to explore ‘Pudu Market’ the largest wet market in KL. It was chaotic locals everywhere buying their daily supply of fresh meat, fruit & vegies – we were the only whities! The place had every bit of fresh produce imaginable – all your fruit & veg, open air butchers selling chicken, pork, beef etc. and loads of fresh fish. They would chop up anything to your liking, even a few frogs here and there. The Malaysian men were amazed at Lee’s mo and would stop him & gesture that it was good!!! They must be crazy!!

At the entrance they had all the aquarium stalls selling all sorts of fish (they were just sitting in buckets with air being pumped in). There spotted a place to eat on the corner that looked really busy so we stopped in there for brekkie – Chicken & Duck with Rice. One of the guys on the stall had worked in the UK so his english was excellent and he couldn’t believe this was our first port of call in KL. We walked around a bit more exploring the area before hopping back on the train and heading back to the Guest House.

In the arvo we headed out to Kampung Baru where there was supposed to be some traditional Malay houses (we didn’t see any good ones I think they have all be torn down in the name of progress). Not to worry we still had the night market called ‘The Sunday Market’ (yes I know its Saturday – they call it this because it goes into the early hours of Sunday).

We had dinner in the market, some awesome satays served in brown paper and a banana leaf and we sampled some deep fried chicken. We had to sample the chicken as they had a huge mound of it on a table that they had battered, a massive wok of hot oil and a line up of locals waiting for the first pieces to be cooked……add it up….it must be good!!!
