Last Weekend on the Goldie!!
We have finally said goodbye to ‘The Gold Coast’
We flew back up last Friday and sat next to this really nice lady named ‘Judy’ on the plane. We got chatting – as you do – and before we knew it she had offered us a lift from the airport to our ‘Mini Resort’ for the weekend even before the plane had left the terminal (we were a bit delayed). She was actually being picked up by her daughter but she said it would be fine….. we have already started the backpacker life!!
Leah & Brenton kindly offered their home ‘The Avery Resort’ for us to stay. We let ourselves in when we arrived at about 3pm and jumped in the pool. Brenton arrived home about 7pm with dinner in hand…. what a legend!
Saturday was the big event (the reason we came back to the coast for the weekend) Jeannie & Matt’s wedding. By the time hair, makeup and an awesome $6 Roast at RQ’s (highly recommend it before a big night out) where over it was time to get dressed & off to The Colonial for the big event.
Jeannie looked stunning and Matt didn’t scrub up too bad either. The day was stunning a bit hot but at least the sun shone brightly. We partied until 10.30pm at the Golf Course then jumped in a taxi and continued the party at Room 81 at the Sofitel in Broadbeach. The night ended for us and the bride & groom at about 1.30am so all in all we had a pretty big night. The bride especially did not get off the dance floor all night long still in her gown & the groom was still all done up in his suit & tie at the end of the night.
Sunday was fantastic. We didn’t wake up too bad. Leah jumped on us around 9.30am and made us Cheese Toasties for Brunch….just what you need after a big night. Then we all jumped in the pool. Before long we started thinking about lunch, Juanita had arrived so the 3 of us jumped in the car & went for supplies… alcohol of course & some meat for the barbie.
We had an awesome lunch then spent the rest of the day lazing in the pool, drinking! What a day! The only problem was we had planned to do lunch somewhere and catch up with some of you out there but the lure of the pool was just too much….sorry about that!
Monday morning was spent at the Travel Doctors getting shots then we had a quick lunch with Kirsty dropped off Leah’s car that she kindly loaned to us all weekend when we needed it and we jumped back on the plane to head back to Newcastle and then the 40min drive out to Cessnock.
It was the best weekend we have had for a long time. Leah & Brenton’s hospitality was amazing and made the weekend what it was! Thank you guys very much!
