Chiang Mai, Thailand Day 36
Tuesday, April 14th, 2009Up early and went to the Thae Pae Gate just down the road for the opening ceremony of Songkran. We bought a small cage full of birds and released them as a sign of good luck for the following year. Had brekkie again at our bakery and then hit the streets early for a soaking!!
We went to the same bar we ended up at yesterday, if we drink today we get free food!! What a day – just madness – we didn’t stop till around 8pm. The bar has 2 jumbo eskies out the front full of water and ice. So you just dip in your bucket and toss it at the passers by. The bar pumps music all day and we met up with some great people and ran into loads we had already met on our trip. A new couple we met are Sarah & Tony, we decided to have dinner and drinks with them. We both said we would go back to our rooms and freshen up and met later. Strangest thing was they are actually staying at the same place we are. So we all headed back to CM Blue House, freshened up then went out on the town.
