Chiang Mai, Thailand Day 35
Monday, April 13th, 2009Had brekkie at Da’s Bakery Home, a little bakery just down the soi (lane) from our guest house – beautiful fresh bread and the biggest fruit shakes we have seen!!!! Went for a walk and bought a bucket to wash our clothes in (need to save some money). After the chores were completed we put on our togs and hit the moat.
OMG this place goes off, bars are pumping music, everyone has bucket, water canon or some type of vessel to throw water with. Every Hilux type vehicle has no less the 6-12 people in the back with a bucket (the size of a 44 gallon drum) full of water and they are throwing water at everyone. No matter if you have a camera, dressed in a suit you are a target!!! Tuk-tuks have gone open top and nuts!!! What we did discover is there are utes and people around the moat selling big blocks of ice – I’m talking 4-6kg blocks – to throw in your bucket so the water is ice cold. Brrrrr, but also very refreshing on a 36 day.
We had a great 3-4hrs squirting water at everyone we could. Had some lunch then we chilled out in our room reading, listening to music and discovering how sunburnt I am. About time we hit the streets again for some dinner….hopefully the water throwing has stopped.
