Tioman Island, Malaysia Day 11

Friday, March 20th, 2009

We finally got to do the Round Island Trip today with ‘The Swedes’ It was a fantastic day for it. Our first stop was Juara. It was a very sleepy little bay so the 4 of us threw the Aerobi around with our new friend…..Mamat. A local about 5 years old, cheeky little devil wanted Lee to go up for a beer to his hut!! He asked us all our names and used them frequently so he was keen to learn!

Next port of call was a Waterfall, about a 15min walk through the jungle. It was very cold but nice to be in fresh water – great for my foot! Lunch came next at Paya, a lot more expensive than our little patch of paradise. You could see that when we pulled up the resorts were a lot more upmarket.

There were 13 of us on the boat including the driver (14 originally but he hopped off because he through there were too many on the boat). So there were the 4 of us, Cindy & Lyn (Aussie sisters from Brisbane travelling through a bit of Asia then the Trans Siberian then onto London to work for a while), Rudy (German), a French couple, a newly wed Malaysian couple and another German guy.

After lunch our driver kindly pulled into Tekek for us were the airport & only ATM on the island so we could withdraw some more cash. We then set anchor just off Renggis Island for some snorkelling. Great spot, we saw another turtle and Lee found a couple of swim throughs that he, Hobrick & the German swam through.

Monkey Bay was our last port of call, I stayed in the boat with a few of the other girls feeding bread to the fish – the others snorkelled. Our day started at 10.30am and we arrived home at 7pm so it was a very full day. It was a fantastic day well worth the 100RM.

We had our dinner then ‘The Swedes’ joined us for dessert!!! Orange Pancakes – disgustingly good!!!
